In the cafe…Tuesday 7th July

Well today was an interesting day. Half way through serving customers, the heavens opened and torrential rain flooded into the cafe! Unsurprisingly, so did more customers! We ended up with a fun half hour – placing buckets under leaking ceilings, mopping up/ holding back the water, whilst trying to serve hot meals and prevent anyone slipping on the wet floor.   : )

Despite the challenges, our kitchen staff did an amazing job as usual. A big thank you to you all!!

Here’s what our 36 customers ate in the cafe or took home for later:

  • 18 portions of soup
  • 21 portions of seafood paella
  • 16 portions of potato curry
  • 18 portions of pancake, fruit and ice cream
  • 10 portions of millionaire’s shortbread

We received £55.76 in monetary donations and several people helped out with the washing up, tidying up and writing up the menu. Various food donations were also bought in including cake, fruit and vegetables.

Jen was in the cafe running the knitting group. Sadly there weren’t many people who joined in, due to the rain. However, the wonderful news is that she is going to keep coming back to the cafe! So if you missed out today, come back next Tuesday from 2pm till 3.30pm!

Thank you very much to everyone who supported us today!

We hope to see you on Friday – we are open from 10am till 4pm.
