Tuesday 23rd June in the cafe…

We had a fabulous team of volunteers in the kitchen today who cooked some very tasty dishes. In addition we were blessed with other dedicated people who washed up all the dishes. Then I mustn’t forget those who were working in the background. They quietly got on with jobs such as writing the menu, setting up tables, putting out signs and sorting out our herbs and spices. A big thank you to you all!

Here’s what our 41 customers ate in the cafe or took home for later:

  • 4 portions of garlic soup
  • 17 portions of roasted tomato soup
  • 18 portions of chicken casserole
  • 25 portions of vegetarian pizza
  • 24 portions of apricot and mandarin cheesecake
  • 15 portions of banana cake
  • 1 portion of fruit sorbet

Jen and her wonderful helpers were in the cafe running the knitting group this afternoon. Several people learnt to knit for the first time and others continued on from last week. They all really enjoyed knitting, chatting and eating the cakes that were provided.

We received £43.77 in monetary donations and as already mentioned, various people helped to tackle the large pile of washing up.

Thank you to everyone who contributed today!

We hope to see you on Friday –                                      we are open 10am till 4pm.

Don’t forget the bake off on the 5th July! Get baking, as there are lots of great prizes to be won!
