In the cafe – Tuesday 16th June

On this beautifully warm day, we had 34 customers, some of whom sat outside to enjoy the good weather. Here’s what they ate in the cafe or took home for later:

  • 17 portions of garlic soup
  • 16 portions of roasted vegetable frittata
  • 22 portions of chicken casserole
  • 22 portions of crumble
  • 9 portions of bread and butter pudding

We received £41.56 in monetary donations and a few people helped out in the kitchen, washing up, or logging food that had been donated. There were lots of donations of food today. A student gave us what was left in his cupboard before he went home for the summer. We were also given some bread rolls, lots of fresh herbs, some chocolate yoghurts and some turnips.

Our kitchen team did a wonderful job of creating tasty dishes and serving people. Many thanks to you all!

Two people worked hard in the garden to the side of the cafe. Despite the heat, they cleared lots of weeds and made it look much tidier. A huge thank you to you both!

Then we had our first ‘knit as you feel’ session from 2pm till 3.30pm. It was great fun! Several people learnt, or relearnt how to knit. The hope is to put all of the squares that are knitted into a piece of artwork to be hung in the cafe. However, Jen had other options as well, including pom poms and crocheting. If you missed it this week, why not come along next Tuesday.

A big thank you to everyone who supported us today!

We hope to see you on Friday! We are open as usual from 10am to 4pm.
