Friday was a lovely day in the cafe. Some beautiful Christmas decorations were made and hung. We proved that there is no need to spend lots of money on decorations. All of ours were made out of items from our recycling bin!
When I arrived in the cafe 3 pumpkins were sat on the side. So, naturally we went for pumpkin soup. Other delicious dishes were also made with the intercepted food, which included the shark fin melon from last week. One person commented, “The food gets better every week, this nut roast is amazing!”
Only 20 customers came down to the cafe, but there was a real sense of community as people chatted and shared with each other.
Here’s what we served:
10 portions of pumpkin soup
5 portions of shark fin melon curry
16 portions of nut roast
7 portions of sausage roll
6 portions of clementine ice cream
9 portions of apple charlotte
5 portions of fruit salad
Our volunteers did a fabulous job as always. We were particularly impressed with how they looked after the cafe whilst Paul and I chatted to a researcher from the BBC. Watch this space for more information…
As always, thank you so much to everyone who supported the cafe this week! We are open on Friday 19th December, but then we are closed until the new year. We reopen on Friday 2nd January 2015.
